APT-GB Leads the Way with Integrated AV Equipment Tracking

In the fast-paced world of live events, critical gear going missing can mean cancelled shows and lost income. UK-based manufacturer APT-GB saw this risk, and decided to do something about it.

At PLASA London 2024, APT-GB launched the FlyPro Comfort Monitor, a travel-friendly comfort monitor for artists and presenters. But it wasn’t just the product that caught attention. It was what was inside it.

APT-GB became the first known company in the Live Events and Entertainment industry to embed a GPS tracking solution directly into their products. That innovation powered by TAZAAR’s GeoTag technology earned them a nomination for a PLASA Innovation Award.

 Why GeoTag Matters

Touring professionals know the risks of theft, loss or misplacement. A vanload of gear going missing can cost tens of thousands – and derail an entire event. With GeoTag, APT-GB customers gain real-time location tracking, built straight into the product.

“It’s not only the value of the equipment tracking that secures,” says Graham Gosden, Managing Director of APT-GB. “It protects against the knock-on impact of the event not going ahead. At least tracking tells you where the equipment is so you can plan around it rather than hoping for the best.”

Built In, Not Bolted On

TAZAAR originally shared its digital product passport technology with APT-GB, which logs product lifecycle events to support traceability and circular economy goals. This led to a deeper collaboration.

APT-GB proposed a co-development journey from research and testing to a finished product  that resulted in GeoTag being integrated into their entire range of teleprompters.

Unlike clip-ons or phone-dependent solutions, GeoTag is embedded into the circuitry of the product itself. It doesn’t rely on Apple or Android networks – just GPS satellites and IoT connectivity.

Tested on the Road – Proven Worldwide

GeoTag has been thoroughly tested by APT-GB – from winding roads in Cornwall to cross-country drives through the UK. Today, their gear and their GeoTags are travelling the world.

From Brazil to the USA to Europe, bands and tour managers now have peace of mind, knowing that if anything goes wrong, they have accurate, timestamped location history just a few clicks away.

And when everything’s going right? They don’t even need to think about it.

Technology That Tracks and Sustains

TAZAAR’s platform also ensures each tagged product includes a Digital Product Passport – a passport for the product's history. This helps support repairs, re-use, resale and recycling – key steps towards a more sustainable industry.

APT-GB’s early adoption of this tech positions them as pioneers of circular thinking in the pro A/V space.

A New Standard for Tour-Ready Gear

With the success of the FlyPro and growing demand from global clients, APT-GB now offers GeoTag as an option across all teleprompters. The collaboration with TAZAAR sets a new standard in the industry – where visibility, security, and sustainability come as part of the product.

APT-GB’s bold move shows what's possible when tech and manufacturing come together to solve real problems.
